2012 Brand New Awards: Designers’ Deadline Addiction

Last Thursday, when the entry count for the Brand New Awards was at 529, we had sort of given up hope that we were going to improve on last year’s tally of 598 and that we might even not break the total of the first BNAs of 547. But our deadline-loving industry came through on the very last day for submissions with 185 entries in 24 hours, accounting for almost 26% of all 714 total entries. So I did a quick little chart (shown below or after the jump) of how many entries came in on the three deadline days — Feb.1 (for early-bird), March 1 (for first deadline), and March 15 (for final) — how many came in on the day before the deadline, and how many on the days in between. This, of course, reveals nothing new. Designers love leaving things to the last minute where any project or task, no matter how boring, can be as thrilling and clock-ticking-down-exciting as an episode of 24.

2012 Brand New Awards: Last Call

The final deadline for the Brand New Awards is this Friday, March 15, 2013. You have all day and night Friday to complete the online submission form, which will be closed Saturday morning. Mailed-in entries must arrive by Monday or Tuesday of next week at the latest.

There will be no further extensions and no exceptions made to late entrants past the deadline.

2012 Brand New Awards: Deadline Extended

The deadline to complete the online submission form and/or receive your physical entries for the 2012 Brand New Awards has been extended to Friday, March 15, 2013.

Please note: This is the one and only extension. No entries — no matter how much you procrastinate — will be accepted after March 15. No exceptions. Judging takes place March 22 and we need a full week to process everything.

2012 Brand New Awards: Early-bird Fees End Today

The early-bird prices for the 2012 Brand New Awards will end today, February 1, 2013. You have all day and all night. Prices will go up on Saturday morning and are changed manually (so you can wake up extra early and beat me to it to get in a cheap entry at the last minute).

2012 Brand New Awards: Now Accepting Entries

The 2012 Brand New Awards are now open and accepting entries.

Submission process can all be completed online. Shipping printouts and actual samples is optional. (Your entries are still going to be printed and judged in person).

Judges: Joe Duffy and his Loll Designs client Greg Benson, Rick Valicenti and his Maya Romanoff client Laura Romanoff, and Karin Fong.

Main deadline: March 1, 2013.

Early-bird pricing deadline: February 1, 2013.

2011 Brand New Awards, Pre-Order

After a slight delay on our part, the 2011 Brand New Awards book is now in stock. We are still finishing up a proper storefront and photographing the book so all we have to convince you is the preview video above. In the meantime, we are going to have a short pre-order period until Wednesday October 17 with 20% off the retail price of $34.99 (so a total of $27.99 right now). Pre-orders will start shipping at the end of next week.
