The old logo was decent — if it had had a much wider “M” it would have been better — perhaps except for the icon that didn’t really add much. The new logo keeps the funkiness and creates an oddly attractive wordmark with a weird and clever mix and alignment of angles. I love the stacked “ZZ” ligature, I like the tall “E”, and I like the wide “M”. It’s super awkward but the execution is just right. The horizontal version is also effective. The blue and pink/salmon posters are another great mess of doodles, typography, and photography that, each poster on its own, might not be the greatest but as a group and as a consistent (but flexible) manifestation of the identity it’s exciting and contagious and fun, just like a good concert.
