Based in Houston, TX, Reliant is one of the largest electricity and energy providers in the state with 1.5 million customers. More famously, Reliant is the name sponsor of Reliant Park, an entertainment complex that houses Carruth Plaza, Reliant Stadium (home to the NFL’s Houston Texans and 2004’s Super Bowl XXXVIII), Reliant Center, Reliant Arena and Reliant Astrodome. Reliant was acquired in 2009 by New Jersey-based NRG Energy, an, um, energy company (if there was any doubt), that is a Fortune 500 company. Over the summer, Reliant and NRG Energy introduced matching logos.

Established many centuries ago, and its existence debated by many, Hell is a destination for suffering, punishment, and exposure to open flames for those that deserve it. With a long and well documented competition with Heaven, whose existence is also debated by many, Hell has seen a decline in population and brand recognition. This August — fittingly the hottest month of the year — the Hell Office of Travel and Tourism has introduced a new identity designed by Chicago, IL-based Chris Herron Design to position Hell as “the premier global tourist destination.”

If you live in the Netherlands and are in need of a new set of tools or paint supplies, you may find yourself heading to a newly rebranded Praxis. The popular hardware store chain consists of 136 stores, including some smaller franchises and 26 megastores. The new design has quietly appeared with little explanation or fanfare.

Developed by Recovery Engineering, Inc. and first sold for the household market in 1994, PUR (pronounced like “pure”) is a range of water filtration products — faucet-mounts, pitchers, refrigerator filters, etc. — that are now a part of P&G. While I like to turn on the faucet, stick my head underneath and gulp, I realize that some water is better taken filtrated, especially in Mexico, where our house brand in my teens was the competing Brita. The new PUR logo has been around since October, appearing on new packaging and coupons, and it wasn’t until last week that it made its way unto the website.

Only slightly older than ten years old, founded in 1998, San Francisco-based Esurance is one of the leading direct-to-consumer auto insurance companies in the U.S. and one of the better known providers of such unappealing service. Until now, Esurance had been represented by a very generic sunset logo and personalized in the form of Erin Esurance, an animated, pink-haired superhero. Earlier this month, Esurance went through a complete transformation with a new identity and national campaign titled “Techie Feely,” both created by San Francisco-based Duncan/Channon.

Originally a small prescription pharmacy that started in 1977 in the city of Curitiba, Paraná in Brazil, O Boticário has evolved into a producer of various beauty products like fragrances, soap, body care and make-up, and now holds the claim of being the largest chain in the world in this sector, with 2,500 stores in Brazil alone, 70 across 15 other world cities, and presence in multiple sales points like department stores. To handle the growth of this consumer-facing brand, a new corporate entity has been created, Grupo Boticário, with an identity designed by the Brazil office of Futurebrand.
