Categories are open to both professionals and students.
Professional Level Work must have been implemented or approved for implementation during 2012. Concept work and/or work that was not implemented is not eligible.
Student Level Work must have been completed in a school, college, or university during 2012 as a class assignment or thesis project. Work done outside the classroom is not eligible.
The Brand New Awards categories are focused on logo and identity design and will encompass work done for corporations; business-to-business or business-to-consumer companies; consumer products or services; sports teams, venues or events; cultural, educational, or governmental institutions; or non-profit, health, or religious organizations; among a number of other industries.
Redesigns or new introductions of a logo.
Logo and Identity Animations
Animation of a new or existing logo or identity.
Sample acceptable applications: logo animation at end of commercial, television on-air packages and idents, logo animation for a film studio, logo animation online in a browser or mobile/tablet app.
Basic Identity Applications
Logo (new or existing) + Basic Applications.
Sample basic applications: letterhead and business card, logo applied on packaging, logo applied on one piece of communication material (i.e., a brochure), or applied as a retail or exhibition graphic.
A MAXIMUM of three identity elements in addition to the logo can be submitted.
Comprehensive Identity Programs
Logo (new or existing) + Extended Applications. Identity program elements may vary but can include stationery (letterhead, business cards, enveloped), communication materials (brochures, annual report, etc.), livery, signage, retail environments, uniforms, iconography, websites, etc.
A MINIMUM of three applications must be submitted. No maximum limit.
Guidelines can be as short as a 1- or 3-page document for logos, more detailed as a 10- or 15-page document for basic identity suites, or more complex as an 80- or 100-page document for comprehensive identity programs. Will be judged for presentation and clarity.
