What better excuse to dive right into some of the finest typography available than a catalogue celebrating Tobias Frere-Jones, winner of the 2008 Gerrit Noordzij Prize presented by the postgraduate course in Type & Media at the Hague Royal Academy of Art awarded to those that have played an important role in the field of type design and typography.
Abi Huynh, the editor and one of the designers of the catalogue, explains:
The book collects his work between 1987 and 2006, articles by Frere-Jones, as well as anecdotes and stories from friends/colleagues. Contributors: Dawn Barrett, David Berlow, Rachel Berger, Amanda Bowers, Sheila Levrant de Brettville, Matthew Carter, Neil Donnelly, Sasha Frere-Jones, Cyrus Highsmith, Jonathan Hoefler, Natalia Ilyin, GJ Nelson, Chris Vermaas and Dirk Wachowiak.
This is simply a nice, bold use of two colors that aptly showcases Frere-Jones' type work. Even the use of the screened red (which usually looks to salmon-ey) looks pretty good here. The full color signature seems like a nice complement, but I would be happy with black and white photographs.

Very nice! I'm usually not much of a fan of pink, but this goes well with the greys. Can I order this anywhere?
Very nice. this is fast becoming the first port of call each work day.
thanks.
EXCELLENT.
Since I seem only to be able to think in adjectives, I'll add a few more:
• jealous
• collectible
• perfect.
Congratulations to Tobias; I imagine these accolades are really the ultimate in type gratitude. To the type & media masters students who designed the catalogue: well done! Beautiful and poignant.
It's late in Australia; sentence structure fails me.
Fabulous.
Another request here for ODRER INFO.
