Our screenprinter indulged both us and himself by doing this gradient the good old fashioned way (by hand). It was done matte to get a nice contrast with the gloss black being machine screened on top.

This poster announces the LightCyle competition. hosted by lighting design consultancy Electrolight, that is part of the 2009 State of Design Festival in Melbourne, Australia. Lightcycle challenges participants to “create a light fixture that represents environmental sustainability” by using 1 meter (3 feet) of LED strip. Büro North created a rather luminous poster with a custom LED-inspired typeface for the competition. The poster features a good, old fashioned split fountain with three colors that serves as a background for a hardcore pass of black that lets the gradient seep right through.
