This earthy tri-fold brochure was designed and produced as an educational piece supplementing a speaking engagement about green business practices. Jess Sand, who wrote, designed and keeps on printing copies as needed (and we suspect folding them too) tells us a bit about the project:

I wanted to make sure people left with some practical tools to keep them from just going out and greenwashing. As much as I would have liked to put this through a professional print run, I just couldn't justify it given the subject matter. It may not be as sexy as many of the other projects featured here on FPO, but I think it's a great example of a sustainable approach to a traditional medium. The paper choice is intended to be low impact — French paper is great: it's a 100% hydro-powered, made in the US of A product) — I can run this baby off one at a time as demand requires which prevents wasted overruns, and I wrote the copy to be long-term reference material, something you can hang onto that doesn't get immediately chucked in the bin. And yes, I am in the process of converting it to a PDF version for those who don't believe in print only!

Hopefully the PDF can retain some of the tactile features of the paper, and continue to evoke the same earthy feel that the printed pieces does. And it may not be sexy as Jess mentions, but we will always support a good effort to educate folks on this subject and doing it in a way that walks the walk while talking the talk.

asenh tsan’s comment is:

I always have a certain reticence for ``green`` design or print because of certain limitations. If you want to go green, you have to take into consideration alot of elements during the process.

But I always end up stumbling on a sustainable product that makes me smile! just a tought.
