Plow Studio has been working with Mi2, a 3-month internship program for college-age students interested in a real-life on-the-field mission experience in either Africa or Poland, for a few years — they have designed the identity, website, brochures, tradeshow graphics among many other items. This program is part of a large mission ministry program led by a local church who approached Plow with one more task: a small edition of DVDs geared towards individuals who had shown the most interest in participating in the program.
While the DVDs were mastered in-house at the Church, it was up to Plow to come up with a budget-conscious solution that would appeal to its unique audience. The case being the most expensive element, they used two rubber stamps, two stickers (printed on existing paper samples) and a double sided insert sheet. A volunteer group set out to duplicate the five samples provided by Plow as they assembled the remaining 95 pieces.
A true DIY project between designer and client, a collaboration not unlike the internship program they foster. A good feeling shared by many and expressed by creative director Dean Sipe:
We enjoyed producing these in the studio. The hands on approach really gave us a sense of accomplishment when the project was assembled and sitting on the table.
I think the interns who end up packing their bags at the end of 3 months of work will share the sense of accomplishment.
