Christmas is full of stereotypes. Stereotypes that we often reinterpret in witty, whimsical or unusual ways in an effort to create something new out of the old and expected. Mike Miller set out to create the annual Hays Symphony Guild fundraising concert poster doing just that: seeking a more contemporary solution than most traditional christmas event posters, while abiding to certain elements that the audience has learned to expect. Mike also intergrated the various arts commissions logos such as the Kansas Endowment for the Arts and the Kansas Arts Commission, along with the Hays Symphony Guild logo within his stylized illustration. And it's hard to tell from these photos, but the linen paper adds a lovely texture to the poster.
