Announcing a new name in time for the holiday season Studio Geologie — formerly Edge Design — shipped a neat little package with a set of coasters to friends, family and clients. Having experienced good results with coasters in the past, the choice of medium was a simple one. The design, at first glance, not so much. But once you give it a second, you realize there is nothing but simplicity in the design and production of this useful gift.

Christopher Meeks’s comment is:

This is really outstanding. I think it is difficult to combine antiquated and modern styles, but the subtle touches (like the full-bleed background and no-color emboss) really bring that marriage to fruition.

Well done!

Darrin Crescenzi’s comment is:

As a lucky recipient of this piece, I can say that it was a thrill to receive and unbox. The letterpress really puts it over the top.

Letterpress always looks beautiful. Good choice.

Schroeder’s comment is:

I was also lucky enough to receive one of these beautiful holiday mailers and I have to say that I almost feel bad using the coasters. The whole package was very well thought out and the effect of having the topography in letterpress adds a great tactile quality.

I'm positively *drooling* over this. It would be hard to imagine the same art offset or screen printed and being anywhere near as dramatic as the letterpress. And I understand Schroeder's feelings about actually using them! Ultimately, you're honoring the concept and the effort that way (but don't let just anyone put a drink on them!).

Delicate and clean, old world with a modern twist. Love it.
