How to get students excited about school? One way is to start with a solid philosophy and pair it with good and engaging design.
The Loyola University Maryland School of Education views teaching not just as a career path but as a life calling. Our challenge was to create a printed piece that spoke to potential students in that same voice. We also realized that because the school is new to Loyola University Maryland (it was officially dedicated in October 2009) there wouldn’t be a ton of established assets. In order to translate this multifaceted idea of education as a calling we used simple, inspiring design to create a School of Education manifesto — adding vibrant color saturation on uncoated paper, the booklet is textural and tactile. We wanted it to feel comfortable in the hand of the reader.
It is a bit hard to tell from the image, but the cover required a bit of knowledge and imagination to achieve the perfect look.
To achieve the overprint above the metallic PMS on the cover we used UV inks in conjunction with inter-deck UV curing technology instead of traditional-process screens and blends.
