Inspired by the sea-beast Kraken, whose ink is the inspiration behind the dark rum, the team at Dead As We Know It wanted to prove the creature actually exists by providing several elements housed within a press kit. A poster, a book, a tooth and actual ink are a few of the items they gathered with the help of brave interns.
This entire kit was a true labor of love. Only 50 were created and each kit was silkscreened, giving it a personal touch with ink smears and natural flaws. Most of the decisions were driven by the budget, in this case, the smaller the budget, the better! At first we were going to outsource the production, but 50 was too small and expensive of a number. We decided to just do everything in house and with the help of interns, we managed to turn cardboard boxes into a kit people are on the hunt for.
How can one dispute the existence of the Kraken when holding a tooth between your fingers? Yet, what I would most look forward to would be to use the ink, the source of all inspiration.
Comments
I wish I had the press kit, the book is my favorite.
I must have one of these… Picked up a bottle a couple weeks ago and it's delicious.
That book is fantastic! I love the ink spill, and those illustrations and type choices are gorgeous. Very cohesive, even down to the wrapping paper.
Too cool, must have been such a fun project. The videos on the website are great too!
Good job!
Many thanks to our ADV × 3 partners
