For their graduating show, the small class of Winthrop University’s Visual Communication program that includes three illustrators and four graphic designers, went above and beyond the call of duty to create a near brand experience. Using red and teal, Univers condensed, and some fine integration of illustration and design, the team put together a comprehensive web site, a poster, and a nifty little video. Of course, we are here to get details on the poster:
The whole process was hand-made by us. We pulled the prints in Cameron’s house on a piece of smooth plywood anchored to a folding table. We hung all the prints to dry one-by-one on the walls of the house. Because of the size, we had to divide it into 2 screens per color, for a total of 4 screens.
The result is indeed a fairly large poster — we received one here at UCllc headquarters — and the illustration is a real time-waster as you can spend quite some time looking at all the little surprises in there. The vellum offers a nice alternative to the usual paper stock, and makes this one feel a little more ephemeral.
