Having recently put together Flaunt I was ready for a break from looking at portfolios and I also thought I had seen enough variations that it would be a while before I was surprised by another take on this venerable art form of career advancement. That was until John McHugh’s “Nine Projects” arrived in the mail. Printed digitally but with the soul of offset, John’s book comes with a French Paper Dur-o-Tone cover that contrasts very nicely with a smoother Finch Paper inside, both of which handle the digital ink rather nicely, making you almost forget that you are looking at only one of 40 digitally-produced books. Edited beautifully with small, medium and extra large images; basic writing and credits; and lovely typography, this portfolio is a great example of how feasible it is to create something with a professional finish without breaking the bank.

Also, if there is a second edition of Flaunt, John, we’ve got your contact info.
