Having had a rather formal wedding based on what I wanted a long time ago, I am now a sucker for the not-so-serious wedding, and this latest invite does not disappoint. It obviously tells you a lot about the couple and the event itself, but most of all it tells a story and it makes you think not only about the future of the couple, but of your own childhood.

When we were asked to design a wedding invite for resident Art Director Mike Mates and his Bride-to-be (now Wife) Rachael, we wanted to create something that captured the playfulness of their personalities and the essence of the woodland wedding. The full invite is built around the central theme of vintage Boyscout materials. Included in the package, is a “Handy Handbook for Tying the Knot,” identification cards with childhood pictures, a telegram-inspired RSVP, detailed map, and the “Marriage-Watching Merit Badge.”

When I asked them about any production lessons learned on this project, I got a surprising response:

How to make knots!
