The peek-a-boo game that first comes to mind involves babies and cooing. Then I remember the various ways in which adults can play the same game, some tasteful and some not so much. With this invite, the Cincinnati Art Museum chose to play tasteful version with its members, slowly revealing an image as layers of translucent paper are removed.

This was an invitation for “Thomas Gainsborough and the Modern Woman”, a portrait painting exhibition on view at the Cincinnati Art Museum through Janurary 2, 2011. The show centers around provocative women, provocatively painted. We wanted our invitation to be a bit seductive, so we profiled an image from the show on an insert and wrapped it in a white foil stamped transparent shell so that the invitee had to unwrap and reveal the information inside. This was put into a Neenah clearfold translucent envelope so that all the contents were visible through the entire mailing process.
