These are nice. Formally the bright tangelo and silver are a tasteful step away from tradition. Plus, they’re a little perverse and a little unconventional. I mean, come on, who doesn’t have debauched thoughts when consuming gingerbread men?

Take our holiday mailer with a general distain for the holidays or a great warning. This year we wanted to alter the viewers perspective of everyday holiday objects and make them appear dangerous with little or no visual modifications. Simple tag-lines were used to skew the viewers perspective of the object into its more dangerous counterpart. For example by applying a simple tagline such as “crowd control” to an illustration of Christmas lights they become barbed wire.

We wanted to keep costs to somewhat of a minimum again this year. Given our experience with last years block print which required an epic amount of time to produce, we thought silkscreening was worth a try. As we’re not exactly setup to silkscreen in the office we had our screen produced out of house. We did however build a nifty little table to keep things moving at a steady pace. Our biggest problem was trying to register the second colour, it was a complete disaster; completely inconsistent from sheet to sheet. Luckily we had a Plan B in which we ran both a solid orange and silver card.
