They always tell you, don’t judge a book by it’s cover. If that wasn’t true advice, I might be inclined to say this was the coolest book ever. Because, I mean…look at that cover. I’m confusing myself. The point is: letterpress, black matte AND green foil. Somebody knew what they were doing with this. Really simple and concise layout as well.
Also, the inside of the book is printed digitally on uncoated paper. We got the book at the office and could literally not believe this was digital. It looked as sharp and juicy as offset.
The purpose of the book was to provide the reader with an in-depth look at the story behind the event, the transformation that the story had on a building, and what happened after the transformation in the eyes of the consumer (the sneaker head, the training and sports enthusiast) and of the athlete (both professional and aspiring).
What makes the book appealing is that the book so simply and correctly puts the content first and lets the information speak for itself through the use of a unified tone, consistent messaging and appropriate handling of type, image and pattern.
There is always a fine line between doing a blind emboss or registering an emboss to a foil or a varnish. We landed on a black matte foil to create a tonal difference. The gate fold cover adds a lot of interest when breaking in to the book.
