It’s a fact of life that weddings are for copious amounts of celebration (and alcohol). I can’t think of a better way to say “lose your inhibitions” than a crawfish boil. These invitations are full of fun and do a beautiful job of arranging all the fine print.

We printed these wedding shower invitations for our friends who were having a crawfish boil down in Louisiana. Since the shower was for three couples we wanted to make the invitation special for each of them. The concept was to capture the newspaper-lined tables that the crawfish are dumped on at a traditional boil. We worked in editorials about how each couple met and fake ads that hinted at some of the details of the shower (there was no actual gator wrestling). The red-orange crawfish were added on top of the newspaper to complete the design.

We played with the packing to get the worn, vintage look of an old-timey newspaper. Hitting light in some areas to get a salty look and heavy in others to have a hint of over-inking.

The crawfish were carried over to the envelope to make it stand out in a pile of mail. It’s always fun to get mail with crawfish on it.
