This personal business card by Chris Jones is brightly colored and nicely designed. The seldom seen square shape stands out and would be difficult to misplace in one’s wallet. The whale is certainly n friendly mark that could likely stand alone. The distressed look of the white card showing through the ink gives the it a nice textural look that, in my humble opinion, feels right at home with the rest of the card. My only concern lies in finding the connection between the whale and popcorn, but perhaps I’m just not meant to know.

I feel like in this digital age, business cards rarely make it to a persons desk or file do to the fact that the info goes in your phone or on your computer and the card goes in the trash. I wanted to create a card that made people want to keep it (like most stuff on FPO). I wanted the letterpress to give a nice bite into the sheet and create a texture that people would want to touch. I also wanted this piece to be thick. After talking with Keith at Cranky Pressman he recommended a stock they use called “Process Blanks”. It was perfect for what I wanted to achieve.

Being in the middle of a re-brand, and wanting the card to be letterpressed, the logo itself started to evolve significantly. The lines in the type, and grunge texture in the whale were all thought through to get the great feel that only letterpress can really achieve.
