Condiments & Entrails is a collection of poems from John Durak, featuring the illustrations of the awesomely named OmegaTheKid!Phoenix. Together, they form a fantastic visual and lyrical experience, made all the better by the tight little package it comes in. The cover is printed on a thick, rugged paper that feels great in the hands, especially with the embossed cover — and since the book is printed digitally, this is a great way to add some oomph. The cover also features a sticker:
Each copy has one of three different stickers on the cover, which when removed reveals a hidden message, and leaves the book titleless. To mark this occasion we have also produced 100 limited edition screen-printed B2 posters, each of which has been signed and numbered.
I love the idea of leaving the book titleless. Even though I have my own copy I have chosen not to remove the sticker. I’m like a dork that keeps a Star Wars figure in its original packaging and never plays with it.
The inside of the book is simple with poems on the right page, peppered with 176 illustrations on the left page. Even though it’s printed digital, the book doesn’t look it, mostly because it’s printed on uncoated paper, which hides the digital-ness a lot better than coated.
