The Greenwood Space Travel Company is real. They also donate all of their proceeds to 826 Seattle, a “nonprofit writing and tutoring center for the young people of Earth.” This beautifully designed poster features retro typography and graphics that hint at early science fiction films such as the poster for Ed Wood’s Plan Nine Form Outer Space. However, I do not wish to draw any more comparisons between this poster and the film that many consider to be the worst ever made.

I interned for the Greenwood Space Travel Supply Company in the summer of 2009. They had me design this piece for them, the Map of the Known Universe. They are a non-profit organization, part of 826 National, and use all the money from the pieces sold in their storefronts to fund writing workshops for grade school students. Besides contributing to a good cause, the purpose of this piece was to showcase good writing, transportative storytelling and design, all based around the theme of space travel.
