mamastudio in Poland celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2011 and sent out invitations to compliment the festivities. The event lasts all day and night (hence the event title) so the invitation features an image of a bat hanging rightside-up, which is a clever concept that is continued throughout the copy in the invitation. The hand-drawn type makes a nice contrast with the crisp sans-serif Knockout.

The anniversary event is an all day and all night happening, with family style attractions including football matches, food, and games during the daylight hours and partying and dancing to well known DJs throughout the night. Hundreds come, and everybody has a great time. To illustrate the duality of the attractions, this year the event has been simply titled DAY&NIGHT, with an upright hanging bat as the key visual. Built around this premise, we created special invitations that read both right side up as well as upside down. All copy used on the invitation, save for the event title, was written by hand.

The invitation is printed on thick beer coaster stock,which holds the foil embossing very well and creates a nice effect, with the day-glow color jumping off the paper. The bat itself was printed on silkscreen. In reality, this piece is more a gift to our friends and clients that are familiar with our work and our anniversary events. In this way, the design, shape, materials and production took precedence over the informational qualities of a typical invitation.
