There is a spot where beauty and practicality meet, where the fun and the formal can come together, and where a couple can highlight that which makes them unique—and yes, all of this can come together in a single item.

When Jill and Preston asked me to design their wedding materials, I was thrilled. They’re an amazing couple with overflowing creativity, so it has been an honor to be deemed worthy of such a project—the wedding took place right in the woods lining Lake Tahoe.

Preston had once told Jill: ‘I’m your anchor, you’re my sails.’ and this combination instantly became the inspiration and theme of the print materials. Later, while away in Oman, Jill opened a letter a day from Preston, where he affirmed the attributes he loved about her:

to the girl : from the boy
to the dreamer : from the realist
to the architect : from the engineer
to the introvert : extrovert the extrovert

They wanted to utilize this long list, making clear the beauty of the union about to be made; celebrate differences. Also, they didn’t want any ordinary programs, and when I shared with them the idea of doing some crazy foldings, they were stoked—thus the origami.
