I just want to rub my cheek on all that turquoise, running my fingers on the edges where two colors meet, for I know this poster to be full of texture and delicious inks—the product of careful and considerate printing that is growing in self-confidence.
I’ve been a big fan/follower of comedy for a while and have always enjoyed the occasional gig poster for a comedian that would pop up. So I was excited to be able to do a print for Al Madrigal. It was a big weekend of shows for him—the previous week he had an appearance on Conan, and his first spot on The Daily Show. He called me after the shows to tell me the posters sold decently, but more-so, he was glad to have them because they are the only physical item he has to mark this point in his career.
So, I felt great, that they worked as merch, but also are a great time-piece for him to have.
I’ve had a few prints here on FPO, and in this time I’ve been progressing as a printer. This was one of the first prints that I didn’t completely freak out while making… I’m learning to take my time, and trouble-shooting is becoming easier.
I think I’m starting to find my legs as a printer.
