Eco-friendly, lovingly executed calendar cards double as postcards, making for fresh cradle-to-cradle design. Conceptually simple yet sprouting inspiration, this calendar makes 2012 look like a ripe field of possibility.

This year’s calendar started with a trip around the world. I was inspired by many things including plants in SE Asia, papercuts in China, and the Japanese design aesthetic. I guess this calendar is a hodge-podge of different design elements that appeal to me. Here is a look behind the scenes at my process of designing a month.

I knew the calendar would be screen printed so paper cuts were a natural route to receive great results. I also chose to use one color to save on printing production costs to keep the retail price reasonable. I used 4 earth toned papers to add variety to the calendar. I also designed the packaging to fold into a stand for the calendar. No more yucky plastic stands.
