While I’m having a bit of trouble getting over the lack of chocolate in this Advent calendar, there certainly are plenty of tantalizing typographical treats to tempt my taste-buds. Each window reveals tasty fun facts or sweet activities that drive traffic to Madison Design Group’s newly re-launched website—spreading cheer that doesn’t go straight to your rear.

Every year we invite our clients, friends, and co-workers to a holiday happy hour with an invitation paired with a take-away. Trying to keep with the holiday theme, we decided to create an advent calendar that would be filled with fun, holiday facts, images, or activities linked to our website and Facebook page, creating anticipation for the holiday season, and giving us an opportunity to show our fun side. As a marketing piece, this announces the re-launch of our website, but most of all, this piece puts cheer and merriness in other offices.

The biggest difficulty was the die-cut. It was prepared with a normal advent calendar in mind, but the feltweave paper proved prone to ripping, especially when the windows were designed small. The original design included a micro-perforation for the two sides, but had to be later changed to include a cut with only small dot of un-cut paper. This allowed for much easier opening of the windows without ripping.
