I can’t even begin to wrap my brain around the interesting experience printing this particular poster was like. Just short of a 100 prints, non of which are identical due to differences in paper, ink color, foil tones and what not. An interesting point between pure fun and logistical nightmare—for my very orderly self, at least—but the result are undeniably amazing.
I find my inspiration on technical challenges. It’s mostly about the medium for me nowadays. With this specific poster I was trying to achieve a personal nostalgic look. When I grew up in the 1980s there were books in the local supermarkets that depicted pictures of the future which seemed totally mechanical and automated. Space age was the not too distant future while nowdays the future seems so distant.
I mostly like experimenting. No matter how many times I silkscreen, I can’t get enough of the results. I always want to try new materials, and just like an ant, I gather stuff to try when the opportunity arises. I also use my gut feeling. Screen-printing requires, above all else, curiosity. Mix, experiment, take a step back and repeat.
