Whimsical illustrations, formal typography and restrained accents play nice with each other to present a delightfully grown-up baby shower invitation.
Most times if you’re choosing letterpress as your method of printing, you’re after the tactile feeling and want a descent printed impression that will be seen and felt. Some paper takes the impression much deeper than others. You’re more likely to achieve a deep impression with a 100% cotton paper such as Crane’s Lettra paper because it’s so soft. Sometimes clients cannot afford a premium of a grade of paper such as Crane so the designer must rely on the expertise of the print shop in recommending a paper that will take the impression well and still stay within the client’s production budget.
When selecting a letterpress printer be sure to request recently printed samples that are representative of what you’re trying to print. For example, if your design has a lot of small type, request printed samples with small type to see how well the printer can hold the legibility of small type. Another issue you may encounter with small type is how well the printer can hold small type that is being knocked of out solid areas of ink. Sometimes plugging may occur resulting in unreadable type.
