Gone are the days of white and golden wedding invitations with ugly scripts and centered paragraphs. Good riddance I say, especially when facing the alternatives.

Our wedding took place at a lodge in the woods of Ohio, so we wanted our invitations to suggest the fun, whimsical and somewhat non-traditional vibe that we were planning for the event. We are both graphic designers, so the invitation was an excuse to pull out all the stops. Using elements like flying pigs (the symbol of Cincinnati), our silhouettes and the state of Ohio, we started with letterpressed Save-the-Dates (with magnets affixed to the back) and went from there. The invitations themselves contains letterpressed invitation and RSVP cards, plus a second invitation to an open-house at my parents’ house, enclosed in a trifold wrap (which opens to reveal a custom map of Cincinnati on the reverse). We also printed our Thank-you cards in this run. For the envelopes, we created a custom wax-seal and commissioned a hand-drawn rubber stamp of our return address.

Working not only with different print processes, but with different actual printers can be really challenging when trying to match colors. Allow yourself some extra time for a bit of trial-and-error.
