Special compartments on things that don’t usually have special compartments are like gluing cotton balls to a coloring contest. It’s going to win no matter what. The silver gilding is just rubbing it in everyone’s face.

American Odysseys is an anthology of novelists, poets, and short story writers. A custom-engraved pencil fits snuggly into a die cut in the cover serving as the title for the book. The pencil was chosen as a symbol of the writer and of the writing process. For many, the first introduction to creating letters, words, and, later on, sentences is through the pencil. The stories contained within are of a personal nature, and the intimate quality of the pencil seemed to be the perfect complement.
