Project Description

A couple wondering whether their child will be a boy or a girl is a storyline that most people can emotionally relate to in one way or another. Jay and Tabby were on "pins and needles" waiting to hear news from their doctor. I wanted the announcement to briefly generate that same feeling. Their story builds up anticipation which is later satisfied by scratching off and revealing the big news. In the early stages of the project I interviewed the Cerceo's about their experience of going through this process. The result of our talk was a group of their personal anecdotes that were turned into infographics and illustrations that told their personal story.

Production Lesson(s)

I found several manufacturers who create adhesive double sided scratch off stickers. The top contains the material that is scratched away and the bottom is a translucent 'shield' that protects the image underneath. This method was extremely cost efficient and not very time consuming.”
