I’m forever on the hunt for the perfect coaster. This particular iteration scores big points for luscious printing and tiny details. The dazzling patterns are like a grown-up Spirograph for your grown-up beverage; you’ll know you’ve had enough when they start spinning.

Project Description

We wanted to design a celebratory—and useful—client promotion to ring in the new year. Once we decided coasters fit the bill, it was a no brainer to go the route of typographic exclamations of "Cheers!" It was an expression that would work for all sorts of occasions, all year round. We stuck with a somewhat neutral, but sophisticated palette of navy and metallic gold to reinforce the festive theme.

Production Lesson(s)

On my first go at the mechanicals, I didn't pay close enough attention to how each color's graphics were grouped. Now I know that it's important to consistently print one color over another for the best result—even when working with variable designs—and the mechs need to be built in such a way to support that.”
