Quoting the Beach Boys’ “I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times” about a man who thinks he may be too advanced for his reality, Spencer Charles’ hand-lettered self-promotional piece is giving me excitations.

Project Description

I created this poster as a way to explore and experiment with a variety of lettering styles. I intended for this print to be a giveaway or leave-behind for potential employers, but only had to use it once to land my current job as a designer for Louise Fili Ltd.

Production Lesson(s)

Printing this large can be very pricey in letterpress, but absolutely worth it. I first thought this would work better screen printed, but the Mandate Press surpassed my expectations, doing an immaculate job handling such a large print. The color and ink coverage is very consistent, punchy, and crisp.”
