Project Description

Transit is community based non-profit artist-in-residence program that supports emerging post graduate artists. Located 20 feet from one of the region's largest train lines, Transit's design aesthetic is influenced by the powerful, industrial, and purposeful locomotive. The materials used were designed around donated or readily available resources. Screen printing, paper mechanics, stamps, and ink were made in house.

Production Lesson(s)

Making the best use of readily available resources encourages creative design solutions. In-house screen printing, lino cut stamps, ink, paper mechanics, and printing were a result of a low budget, DIY program. Budget doesn't have to hinder creativity. Instead, it can push the designer to make the best of what they have through clever design.”
