Lead Image

Despite the fact that there have been a lot of minimalist interpretations of classic works turning up in design blogs recently these posters stand out with their clever mathematic interpretations of Shakespeare’s famous lines and the choice of a type family that is not traditionally minimalist. Nicholas Weltyk broke the “rules” enough to keep his posters fresh and different.

Project Description

A set of 12-by-18-inch posters for upcoming performances of three Shakespeare plays at the Pratt Institute. Each illustrates a memorable quote from the story with a chart or diagram.

Production Lesson(s)

I suppose the production was pretty straightforward as it was done on a machine which I was familiar with. Registration and color overlapping was explored. Deducing the mathematic visualizations and connecting them with the famous quotes was the most challenging and fun!”
