Even if the closest you come to having a governess, butler, or chauffeur is watching Batman movies or The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, it is not difficult to imagine the elegance and class that must be associated with an agency dedicated to providing household staffing solutions. Foil stamping a modern day coat of arms on classic crest paper fits the bill nicely.

Project Description

We designed a new identity for British American Household Staffing (BAHS), a domestic placement agency in SoHo, New York. Inspired by the coming together of British and American culture and the idea of 'family', the logo is a modern day coat of arms that combines icons that are symbolic of the culture at BAHS. Using light grey and white papers, the stationery was designed to have a peaceful tone with elegance and class.

Production Lesson(s)

We originally gave the job to our regular printer, but their foil stamper couldn't get the foil to release from the paper. So we tried several different chips before we were out of choices. At the eleventh hour, we called up Rohner and asked them if they'd be able to get it to work. They happened to have the foil we originally wanted in house, so we went there with the paper stock and had them print a sample. It printed beautifully. It must have been a temperature issue with the other stamper. We moved the job to Rohner and waited two weeks to get it on press, which delayed the delivery quite a bit so we made them temporary business cards to hold them over. The results ended up being well worth the headache. We learned that even though you form solid relationships with your printers, you have to do what's best for your client since they're paying you to also have good judgement.”
