Project Description

The State Dinner is an annual black tie gala that takes place at the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin, TX. Lyndon Baines Johnson is one of America's most iconic presidents and as such the invitation needed to exude class and elegance. Inspired by the library's architecture, the design for The State Dinner invitation features geometric shapes based on the distinctive overhanging corners of the library running throughout. The front cover features a metallic gold geometric shape with a raised UV coating showcasing the library's official seal and a raised UV coating highlighting LBJ's signature on black felt-textured paper. The inside RSVP pocket and back flap both feature a metallic gold herringbone pattern reminiscent of a 1960's style suit. Throughout the inside of the invitation, historic photographs of LBJ and Lady Bird Johnson at White House events have been printed on uncoated paper with metallic teal ink. The color scheme of black, gold, and teal is a throwback to the 1960's when LBJ was in the oval office, but is accented by modern design touches to give it a more current feel.

When doing a complex piece with multiple printing techniques make sure you allow plenty of time to get estimates from the printer.
