Lyrics are a powerful thing, touching different people in different ways. Project Description

This was a final major project during my study of Graphic Design at Nottingham Trent University in the UK. It revolved around my love for the track Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen) by Baz Luhrmann. I have always found the lyrics to the track inspiring, amusing, and uplifting. The exact feeling I feel everyone should experience on a day to day basis. This sparked the idea to create a free newspaper to be distributed with typographic expressions of the lyrics to the track. Its a supplement that your average day to day worker could pick up at the start of the day, and revolve their day around, leaving a chart to complete at the back. I hope in this way, the song can inspire as many people as it did myself and all round pick up the day-to-day lives of everyone.

Production Lesson(s)

Newspaper is a fascinating format to work with. The size is great and printing on this stock creates a real tactile finish. I hope to develop this further to a more interactive piece of design and test the waters in peoples reactions.”
