Birth Announcement Card for Baby Charline

Production Method

Qua-3 Digital Printing

As experienced by Major Yom schedules can change with little notice, and we need to know when the time to bend over backwards for our clients has landed on our desktop. In this baby announcement I am particularly drawn to the color palette which is not what you expect to find when you think newborn, and the great color overlay that was achieved with digital printing.

Project Description

Birth announced card of Charline Peeters. When the parents asked me to design their card they only told me there had to be a whale in it. So I started of with some doodling and sketching, illustrated everything in Illustrator and added the color and texture. Wanted to break with the classical stork story and made the whale the baby transporter this time. Because it's a tradition in Belgium to send out butter beans, I also made al little extra card which was attached to the beans.

Production Lesson(s)

Baby Charline was set on this world one month earlier than scheduled, I actually received a phone call from the happy mom when I went snowboarding with some mates. This meant however that I had to finish the project in the French Alps. Luckily I never go on holiday without my computer so I could adjust all the last details there and mailed them the result to they could have it printed on time. So one small advise: if you make baby cards, make sure you're flexible.”
