Business cards can be an ideal place to distill qualities you want to be remembered by down to a straightforward item that people can take with them. Mark Bain’s business cards are a representation of his design process, which combines “thoughtful imagination with meticulous attention to detail” by way of the juxtaposition of raw chipboard and black foil. They are simultansouely unguarded and carefully cogitative.

Project Description

As a designer, these business cards are a tactile reflection of my qualitative and quantitative process. The cards themselves, combining a raw, unrefined chipboard with a glossy and solid black foil stamp, exude this clash of texture and appearance. The "Go Farther Go Further" mark further emphasizes this relationship through typography, and also adds weight to the black foil, balancing these textures visually.

Production Lesson(s)

I learned that foil stamping is an excellent alternative to letterpress, which combines a similar impression on the paper, but also achieving a more solid and durable texture.”
