The concept behind this companion/program for Ann Hamilton’s Park Avenue Armory installation “the event of a thread” reinforces and reiterates the ideas behind the larger piece. The installation’s reference to the building’s rich social history is represented in the catalog’s newspaper format—it is reporting on the Armory’s history—and the inclusion of stills pulled from video from the Armory’s archives. Multi-sensory aspects of the installation are represented in the catalogue through sheet music from Pulitzer Prize winning David Lang, visual textures from historic photographs, and other imagery pulled from the Armory’s archives.
