The concept, branding and design for Montreal’s Projet 67 take inspiration from the 1967 Internaltional and Universal Exposition (Expo 67). The logo—stamped in gold foil on the restaurant’s printed materials—takes its geometric shape from the USA pavilion. Then, with updates in the color palette, the design aesthetic follows the International Typographic Style, which was still popular but coming to a close at the end of the 1960s.

Project Description

The mission of Montreal-based restaurant, Projet 67, is to let diners discover other culinary cultures in the same way the Universal Exposition (Expo 67) brought the world to Montreal in 1967. The menu changes every season, inspired by the heritage of different countries which were present to the original Expo 67.

The logo is a representation of the USA pavilion, which is the emblem of the Expo since its impressive burning in 1976. The graphic design reflects the non-traditional and modern layout of this era.

Note: Soixante-sept means Sixty-seven in French.

Production Lesson(s)

Hand stamping can be really time consuming, but always gives great results!”
