Bilingual children’s magazine Grilled Cheese — hand-printed, folded, and stapled in Montreal by L’abricot and friends — presents an ambitious use of two-color Risograph printing and takes advantage of its silkscreen-like overlay effect to craft brown from blue and orange, perfect for a woodburning session in the dark.

Project Description

Created in Montreal, Grilled Cheese is a bilingual (French and English) kid's magazine printed on a risograph. The first issue (Issue O) is a camping theme and is aimed for children aged 3 to 8. We were very fortunate to work with talented illustrators who did an incredible job, using only two colors! Each copy comes with an assorted pin.

Production Lesson(s)

One should never be in a hurry while printing with a risograph. The ink should have the time to dry completely (24-48 hours) in between each print. If not, the process will be so hazardous!”
