The designers behind this brochure did not give up on their ideal design based on feedback from the printer. Instead they foraged ahead and found a vendor who could accomplish what they wanted, and it turned out exactly as they dreamed it.

Project Description

Kim Scodro Interiors is a boutique luxury interior design studio based in Chicago and Phoenix. They create spaces that are timeless and refined, yet tastefully current. With a desire to contact the top brokers in real estate, they wanted to make the best first impression through a mailer. We designed new business cards and a one-of-a-kind mini portfolio brochure complete with a built-in pocket that held one of the cards. We worked with a copywriter to include an overview of their studio and ended the brochure with a list of accolades. Features include an all-over metallic gold foil stamp, die cut corners, half sheet and gold stitching.

Production Lesson(s)

This was one of those situations where we got a paper dummy made prior to sending the files to print and were so glad we did. The paper we thought would work ended up being too thick and the dummy popped open and would not lay flat. We changed the interior paper to be thick enough to not show the images through the other side, but thin enough to lay flat.

Also, we designed a pocket to go on the inside back cover, to hold a business card. The inside back cover has a full bleed photo covering the entire page, making the pocket almost invisible. The first printer we quoted this with said it would not be possible to fold/glue the pocket and have the image on the pocket line up perfectly with the rest of the image. Rather than obeying their advice and changing our design, we found a printer who would do it, and did so with no hesitations. We couldn't be happier with the result. ”
