If not for work, this calendar is a great addition to the traveling household, or those who need a quick at-a-glance view of the entire year. Subtle in ways where it informs and guides the content, while taking a step back from the actual information that needs to be highlighted.

Project Description

As a small business with multiple project timelines and milestones, we decided to design our ideal planning calendar. Some of our favorite details include: a full year view (organized quarterly); range of holidays and recognized occasions for reference; week days in black ink / weekends in gray ink; months with 31 days are easily distinguishable.

Production Lesson(s)

On the calendar the weekends are in gray and the week days are in black. In order to keep it as a one-color job, I initially typeset the weekends and their corresponding rule lines as a 50% screen of black. Then I considered that the rule lines are so thin, using a screen would cause the lines to appear dotted instead of solid. So we decided to change the screen to a spot color—€”PMS Cool Gray 9 at 100%. This was a little more costly, but produced the best quality result. ”
