Chronicles Attract

Of all the time spent browsing Martin’s portfolio we somehow missed the catalog design for Snapshot Chronicles: Inventing the American Photo Album. Just how awesome is this cover?

Gaining Sam some street cred to pull off the flowchart previously shown here, is the design of The Spider-Man Chronicles: The Art and Making of Spider-Man 3.

Posters

While most designers strive for dramatic white space in their poster work, Sam and Martin strive to take advantage of every square inch the canvas affords.

Poster for Punc’t, a series of posters commissioned by Neenah Paper and organized by David Schimmel in 2004. Each poster was a punctuation mark from the alphabet — Sam’s was the tilde.

Poster for a 2006 Student Portfolio Review hosted by AIGA LA. The internet does not do this poster justice, specially when you consider that every single letterform was cut and pasted by hand.

OA’08: Sam Potts • Martin Venezky

Our first event features two designers, Sam Potts and Martin Venezky, whose work displays a serious commitment to detail, craft and language, while often showcasing an equally delightful engagement to a sophisticated visual abundance — all with decidedly opposite results. As we share some of their work and highlight some of their background in the coming weeks, we presume the differences and similarities will quickly be apparent.
