My great aesthetic moment of 1987 passed as I sat in New York's Beacon Theater for the premiere of Wim Wenders' Der Himmel über Berlin / Wings of Desire. Two large mythological statues on either side of the stage and decaying architectural grandeur were the setting for an incredibly raw and impassioned film experience. As Wenders and Solveig Dommartin (both his girfriend and the actress who played the trapeeze artist) walked out on stage to introduce the film, they were two of the most gracefully stylish people I had ever seen. Both fashionably dressed, earthy, comfortable, and "oh, that hair."
Sadly, Dommartin passed away last month, too young, of a heart attack. The Media Funhouse pays tribute with a favorite scene from Wings of Desire.

for those who like blogging but don't care enough to put work into it...
wordpress
continues to lead the pack of blogging simplicity. i'm wasting a ton of time playing with it after i migrated from blogger this morning.
i don't mean to sound like i have something to sell, i just am enjoying it and want to share... some highlights:
friend surfer like facebook's home page, you enter a list of friends' blogs and it shows you everyone's updates on one page
statcounter i had a free account on statcounter.com for my old blog, and this function replaces everything i formerly had
feed stats tells you who has been reading your blog's RSS
some beautiful templates fully adjustable colors and images
free migration from blogger - imports posts, comments, media
[deep contented nerdy sigh]
