Don’t Just Delete, DELETE

I wish I had time to post something more meaningful, but given the current workload I’ll go with something rather silly for all you QuarkXPress users out there. Open a new document in Quark, create a text box or picture box. Press (all together) Command-alt-Shift-k and stand back. I think it works at least until version 4.x. You may have already seen it, but it was just showed to me and I thought it was very unQuark like.

And yes, it’s silly.

Now, open every program you have, and see what you find.

now make five boxes and delete them the same way, each individually, not all at once... the fifth one has another little something fun..

Now that's good software! Can InDesign do that? Don't think so!

Kick ass! I hope they keep something like that when they port Quark to OS X in the year 2020.

You mean in the sense that Quark seems not to have a sense of humor? What about their whole business plan of offering updates every 7-9 years? Seems like a joke to me...

Does that mean that Quark is the Joe Pesci of layout software?

Hi,

For the benefit of all those non-Quark users like me (yes, I still use PageMaker!!!) could any Quark user post a screen shot of what is supposed to happen when you press 4 keys in one go!!!!

Thanks

Sadly, it doesn't let you take a screen shot when it's happening. Unless somebody has one of those fancy shmancy screen capture add-ons, that might work.

Well I happen to have one of those fancy schmancy screen capture add-ons, and it worked.

I saw the original one when I was in school, but I had never seen the fifth one.

Number 1(a)

Number 1(b)

Number 5

See? Thanks Kyle! Just a quick note, since the photos lack motion: the little robot walks all the way from the left of the screen and then shoots at the box. On the fifth "delete" the green alien, that looks like John Goodman, comes in from the right, pulls out his gun and fires a hairball-looking thing that then explodes.

Thanks Kyle!!!!!

Now I believe Quark express is a must!!!!

(just joking of course - I guess the learning curve is hard and it's page layout from scratch)

Learning Quark is almost the [design] equivalent to giving birth. It is one of the most painful experiences, but once you get past that first shock you learn to love it.

Careful with what you say Sam. You might end up sleeping with the fishes.

I never knew about that fifth alien! That's great. Now I can say I am a quark master!
