Interruption of Broadcast

Straight out of a Stephen King novel the unthinkable is about to happen: Speak Up needs to shut down for a couple of days. Starting today at 11:00 am Pacific, 12:00 Mountain, 1:00 pm Central, 2:00 pm Eastern, I will have to close the site. This, in order to export all the comments and posts and not have anybody’s thoughts left hanging in cyberspace. You might still see some cute splash screen while we are away. Sorry for the interruption and I hope to have everything up and running on Monday. Send good vibes.

This is terrible, terrible news.

What am I supposed to do today, then?

(Does this mean you do not need us to archive our posts for you?)

Yeah, how did that work out for you? Were the Sam Potts Inc. headquartes hurt by the outage? I'm sure you have some sort of Emergency Policy for all your employees in situations like these.

Interruption of Broadcast

Crap. Now I have nothing else to do then clean my oven and re-lace my sneakers this weekend. Damn.

Speaking of interruptions, as you know the northeast is in the middle of "Blackout 03." Still no power here on most of the Island and NYC. Boring. Armin, you couldn't have picked a better weekend to do this.

Sam’s comment is:

Drinking beer seemed like the best way to "get back to normal" here at S.P.I.

I was actually in the middle of rewriting the code for the Pentagram one-word site --using XHTML/CSS of course (shame on you, Armin)--when poof. It was kind of cool here in Brooklyn--everyone was out on their stoop, or on the roof. The moon was really bright. I feel really bad for Cleveland--they've got troubles.

Oh wait--yeah, we swung into action to make sure that our client's transparent PNGs were not lost. Priorities, right!

I predict that this afternoon will be the most productive afternoon I've had at work in the last 6 months. Clients will get called back, work will go out the door, underlings will get their questions answered, Nasdaq will go up 50 points, the world of business will get synchronized.....

damn, now that school is finished, you have to close down my only source of possible inspiration? couldn't you have done this while I was barely able to sneak away and log on? i've been buried in books for 6 days! what am I going to do now??

Armin’s comment is:

OK, here goes. This is so weird. I'm starting to take it down... My e-mail will probably be all screwed during the weekend, so any complaints should be held off until monday.

Sniff.
